Contraband is the story about Chris Farraday (Mark Wahlburg), an ex-smuggler who must return to the smuggling game to save his family. Bad guy Tim Briggs (Giovanni Ribisi) hires Farraday’s brother-in-law Andy (Caleb Landry Jones) to import drugs from Panama, which goes awry forcing Farraday to use his skills to bail him out.
Storyline is fluid. Characters work well together. Wahlburg gives an A rated performance and plays a believable good guy that once was a bad guy character. Ribisi gives his characters depravity and a vile nature, and pulls viewers into the emergency of the situation.
Would rather have waited until being released on DVD to watch it. The film has a more “at home” feel to it rather than a theater movie experience. The story was predictable and easy to guess, but still had moments that left viewers on the edge of their seats.
