Rose State College helps to provide a caring and safe environment for children.

According to the rose.edu website, the Child Development Laboratory Center, located just north of the student center, serves the community as a child care facility and provides a laboratory setting for RSC students enrolled in the Family Services/Child Development Program. The main objective is to provide a positive atmosphere, which will promote the social, physical, intellectual and emotional growth of children.

Children experiment with hand painting and making a fun mess, under supervision of laboratory students.

Dr. Britton’s convocation speech addresses faculty concerns

08172012 12:46 p.m.

As this new school year starts, and new students wander throughout the campus, one person’s long career will come to an end.  The beginning of this semester marks the 40th year of Dr. Terry Britton’s educational career. It however, will also be his last.

When is the right time to retire?

“When a friend asked when I’d know it was time to retire I said, ‘One of these days, I will arrive at the campus, step out of the truck, and know the time has come for me to retire,’” Britton said during his bi-annual convocation address to the faculty.

In 2006, Britton became the president of Rose State College, and has held that position for the last six years.  Like any establishment the college has seen its ups and downs, its trials and tribulations, seen many students go on to graduate and obtain careers in their field of study.

Life is full of good and bad

For good or bad, Britton has led our school through difficult times and helped to enable the school to keep its head above water. “It’s a mixed bag, how well we’ve done these last six years,” he said.

During Dr. Britton’s address, he talked about issues the school is facing, and also points of concern the faculty had expressed in the first ever Leadership Assessment Survey. Some of these concerns were focused on faculty employment issues, enrollment issues, technical issues, and degree program issues.

Reaching out to the community through communication

He also spoke on ways in which to utilize the Communications Center. “Anyone who has been to the communications center on weekends in the spring knows that six months out of the year it is filled with dancers,” Britton said. The Communications Center is known throughout the community for its dance recitals. There is however, a lot more going on in the building than just dance.

Rose State’s website has many tools to give their students the chance to succeed and fulfill their educational dreams.

RSC combines the digital with the physical to give students an edge in learning

The LRC (Learning Resources Center) database utilizes a multitude of different search engines to help individualize a student’s search. If the LRC does not have a particular book, it can be borrowed through the college loan book program.

The faculty and staff directory gives students accessibility to the RSC faculty and staff community. In most cases all a student needs to do is type a faculty or staff members name into the search engine to find them.

Find a club that fits you

The Club page shows the RSC club list. This database  gives students the basic information about the clubs, and who to contact for further information. The Calendar of Events page shows the events that each of the clubs may be participating in.

When students look at the degree programs directory, they can find additional resources from places outside of the college to help them make a decision about their present or future educational needs.

Confused where to find student email or d2l login information? Click the Student login link.

There is also a student login link that takes you to a page that lists the available places a student can go to view their school email, current course schedule, or class assignments. The student email, D2L, and Oasis pages are available to give students full accessibility to their professors, advisors, and school email accounts.

Counselors help students find the right groove to accomplish their educational dreams

For those that need help with life difficulties or who have trouble with accomplishing their educational dreams, there is the campus counselors’ site. These professionals are here to listen, offer additional resources, and help students with their academic troubles.
